Mother's Day We Heart Paper Crafts Giveaway

Right - it's mumsy mumsy day giveaway. Even though Mother's Day is 2 months away, Venus of HERE is starting early with her Mother's Day giveaway. One of the condition is to showcase a layout of Mother's Day one did or will do or recently completed. This is my Mother's Day Layout. The picture is neither of myself nor my mother but a 'Note' from my lovely daughter, Zahra'. The feelings of a 10+ girl was clearly written in the note and I really, really was and still am very touched. She's my most precious gift and I am known as a MOTHER because of her.
This is what she wrote:
"I'm sorry that I make wrong with you,
I'm, sorry that I don't have a present for you
but you have 1 present and its me (Siti) and
I wish you HAPPY MOTHER's DAY".
Supplies: Kaisercraft pp, Sunlit punch, Kaiser Felt Sticker Alpha, Lace from stash.

Mommy Dearest

I spent my weekend with mum. It was good to be with her and I suppose she is delighted to have us over, too. Mum being mum will go all out to prepare the best meal for her ever 'starved' children and granchild. As always, I seldom help her in the kitchen and this time was no exception either. I only helped prepare the basic ingredients and then I was outside clearing her garden. I managed to weed a little, trim her hedges a little and watered her plants. Her plants are her treasured babies and as I was engrossed I forgot to take pictures. Next time!
It was a compact weekend for me because after doing all those little things, I went out with hubby to run errands for her. I am not a list follower but I carried her list least I forget her main requirements. Still, I managed to sidetrack and add an item that was not on the list but I remembered her mentioning it while helping her to prepare the ingredients. I suppose the highlight of the day was her sumptuous meat curry and after a good feed, another round of cleaning up. This time inside the house. She also asked to help her declutter and together with Zahra' we both climbed the attic and removed all of the biscuit and milk tins that dad had so lovingly saved.
Here's a layout I did of mum 4 years ago when I became reacquainted with Scrapbooking. Since the paper itself is 'cluttered', I decided minimal was in order. It sure is minimal in today's standard. At the time, I thought that was the best.
This is a rare photo of mum in a very relaxed and calm pose and to me this is the best shot of her I managed to shoot.
Supplies: Bo Bunny paper, Bo bunny Sticker, American Thickers Alpha, Caption was from a pattern paper and the star from my stash.

Ebru - Turkish Marbling Art

I had not been feeding my blog for so many days now. Had been occupied with work, daughter's school activities and housework; all rolled into one. Then, I was caught up with Lets Scrap Around the World Blog hop. By the time I am ready to feed my blog, I could hardly open my eyes. Finally, the 3-day "Eyes On Turkey Exhibition" consumed more of my time as I love to watch their Traditional Dances and also the Ebru art.

This is Fatma Cakmak, a Turkish Ebru Artist who also teaches this art to University students, and myself with one of her piece of Art.

I was intrigued by EBRU, that is the Turkish Art of Marbling. This is not a new art actually. The method maybe the same but the design and paints used for this art varies from artist to artist. I remember using acrylic paint and oil when I first learnt this art in school years ago. For Fatma Cakmak, the artsit who demonstrated this art used natural paint from plants. More information on this art can be found in the net and this is just one of the link here
Following are pictures that I took of Fatma Cakmak demonstrating this Turkish Art during the Exhibition at the Ground Fair of Kuala Lumpur Convention Center on March 2, 2012.
