Competition

Hi friends! I created a layout once again.
This is my take for Scrap Africa finale challenge with inspirational mood board to follow.
The photos showed Zahra' riding Dodoe before and after her Dressage Competition. See how stressed she was before the competition and a sigh of relief once it was over.
(Location : Royal Selangor Club)

Supplies: Kaisercraft pp, Bazzil Cardstock, UW Scrapbooking pp, Kaisercraft flowers, Micia Wooden Set Alpha Stamps, Micia Ink, Stamplo stamps

I picked some shades of greens from the mood board and yellows as well.

I wish to express my thank you to Scrap Africa for all the inspirations you have given me all the while. Thank you very much.

Much love,

Happy Memories

I was doing some spring-cleaning when the Child came across the photo of her and her friends taken during a Prize Giving Ceremony at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) a few years back. She said, "Mummy, can you please scrap this photo". Even though Zahra' was not in the list, she and a few other friends went to show some support for her School and her friends were listed. I went along to show support, too.

Engagement Card

I am not a a card person actually. When Zahra' told me she was going to attend her friend, Sofea's Engagement Ceremony, I decided to make a card for the occasion. As always, it was a last minute work. I have only two hours to work on the card and my brain was on gear 5 with ideas. In the end, this is what I came up with.

It was a simple card where I used Kaisercraft Stencils to create the roses and the the Heart. Zahra' wrote the wishes using the Kaisercraft tag.

As it turned out, there was a surprise in store for Zahra'. Sofea, whom she knew when they were working as Volunteers at Petrosains, is a cousin to Zahra's cousin-in-law, Mariam.  It was a round of surprises for Mariam, Zahra' and Sofea. Indirectly, Sofea is related to us via marriage. What a small world. I am glad I permitted Zahra' to go and she represented her dad and myself. Even though Sofea extended the invitation to me and my husband, we did not attend. For me, the obvious reason being "I am still recuperating".

Zahra' with her cousin Azwan (my eldest Nephew) and his wife, Mariam
(Sofea's cousin) and their son, Muhammad Samuel Rizqin at Sofea's house

cousin-in-law, Mariam

Anyway, I hope Sofea will like this simple card.

Procrastination

When my young friend, Hamizan wrote:

"My Dad always tell me, if you want to start with something Positive, don't wait till New Year or say "in 2 weeks or so". Always start NOW". Wise advice.

Sometimes in the wake of daily activities, there is always the tendency to let things slip by until it is too late. Regrets began to set in and a lot of questions were asked. Then again, one in 50, Procrastination is a Blessing, as my recent experience showed. My three friends were moaning for having submitted their claims on time. There was a revision in the claims package and a re-submission was required. Fortunately for me, an error occurred for my on-time submission and the result was I did not have to re-submit. My claim amount was sufficient to cover the revision and the previous error required minor fixing. Phew! A rare occurrence but no excuse either to procrastinate. Unless, it a matter of life and death.

When Maremi-small-art featured making albums out of envelopes, I was sooooo lucky to spot the required envelopes jutting out of one of my bags of stash. I set to work immediately and this is the cover of the mini album. I shall only decorate the cover to the last minute because I want to create Art journals first.

This is the inside of the mini-album and I have another 16 pages of art to work on.

This is the first two pages of the album that I had started. I must admit, I had started these pages
much earlier but I stopped because I ran out of Black ink.Even the shop I frequented ran out of the Black Ink I so desired. As soon as I purchased the ink, I still couldn't complete it because I was already admitted to Hospital. Yesterday, with all intent, I managed to complete the Art Journal and I dedicate these pages to my young friend. Thank you, Hamizan, for the reminder.

Dragon Head Rock

It is so good to be back home after four days at the Hospital. I had been going through the February Challenges and decided to use my time to really do layouts seriously and use up my stash that has been building up ever so nicely.

I am recuperating from an operation but my mind never knew how to rest. This layout is for Stuck? February 1st 2017 challenge at stucksketches following the sketch below.

I wanted to follow the sketch as closely as possible but I end up adding a Journal card on the left corner of my layout. I have decided to journal more with wisps of paint works or artworks whenever necessary.

Here is the Layout.
This photo was taken at YongDu-am (dragon Head Rock), at Jeju Island, South Korea, when we were there in April 2015. Situated to the North of jeju City, Yondu-am was created by strong winds and waves over thousands of years. However, there are plenty of other stories of how it came to be. One legend has it that a Dragon stealing precious Jade from Mt. Halla was shot down by an arrow from the mountain deity. When he fell down on Yondu-am, his body immediately sank into the ocean and his head rapidly froze looking at the sky.

That is the story of my Dragon Head Rock.

Location : Jeju Island, Korea
