#photoadayjune

It's a new month and another new beginning for the month. What can I say to all the months that had come and gone - Thank You for those good months and for all the events that had taken place either good or bad, happy or sad, ups and downs, smooth or stressed, solved problems or unsolved problems. We all had gone through them - either we make it or roughed it out and hope for a better month / months ahead of us. All I can say, I've managed to rough them all out and some require close scrutiny until I can get back on track. To all of these, I am grateful to still be alive and THANK YOU ALLAH.
So with the new month, it means a new #photoaday at fatmumslim. To all photo enthusiasts, do take out your camera and start clicking away. Oh! There's no prize attached. The best prizes are : (a) You improve your photographic skills and techniques; (b) You'll see things differently from you normally would; (c) You'll learn to be creative and think out of the box; and finally (d) You'll have the satisfaction of seeing your photos from a different perspective and if you're a scrapper, you'll have something extraordinary to scrap.
Below is the list of themes for the month of June 2012. HAPPY PHOTOGRAPHING!

Do visit here for further instructions. Thank you.

Rainbow - May 13, 2012

Last week, returning home from my in-law's house, Zahra' pointed out to the rainbow. Since I was sitting at the back of the car, I couldn't see the rainbow clearly. Then I thought of taking photos of them. Passing the camera to Zahra', she helped me to take a couple of photos of the rainbow. These photos were taken around Tanjung Malim near UPSI.
Thank you Zahra' for these photos. I know it was not easy taking these photos from a moving car, but you've done them well.

The Magic - Rhonda Byrne

This is one of my latest collection of Rhonda's book. The first time I saw this book was at Carrefour Alamanda, Putrajaya.  After flipping through a few pages, I asked hubby to buy the book for me. Well, I was completely devastated when hubby turned down my request. Returning the book back to the shelf, I told myself that I'll get the book at Kinokuniya on my payday.
The next day, I visited Kinokuniya to check the availability of the book. I was more than happy because the book was not only on the shelf, but it was also on 30% discount. That was more than I bargain for. So, on pay day, I bought the book at RM26.95 instead of RM38.50 plus a scrapbook item to qualify the discount. I really am grateful to my husband for turning down my request then and this book is all about gratefulness. I am on day 4 writing down what I am grateful for and I realise that there is so much that I have always taken for granted. Now I know I am on my way to change my life around and I really am so excited about making my dreams come true.

Barefoot

CHALLENGE INSM12#7 at Lets Scrap:
In honor of National Scrapbook Day (which falls on 5/5 this year), this challenge is to use Five Pictures and Five Patterned Papers on a two-page layout. And, coincidentally, you have five days to complete the challenge! There are no techniques to learn, no tools to buy, nothing hard to try or do!
For this challenge, I chose the Sketch 1-25-12.
These photos of my daughter's feet were taken at a beach in Port Dickson. We were on our way back to Melaka when hubby decided to stop by Port Dickson. After browsing the night market, we went to the beach. I did tell Zahra' that she's not to go into the waters at all. The sun was still shining at the time and Zahra' decided to go barefoot on the sands instead. I gave her my permission and also reminded her to be extra careful.
I had these Kaiser papers in my collection for more than a year. I didn't use them mainly because of the busy pattern and to me the colours are a bit too loud. For this challenge, I feel these papers are perfect because of the image of the sun, bright and cheery colours (which complements the day the event took place) and the photos are not too loud. I did a lot of toning down for this layout so that the photos will show. I decided to keep the embellishments to a minimum.
Supplies: PP - Kaisercraft (Offshore Collection / Fun In The Sun Collection); Paper Boutique / Rub-ons: Kaisercraft & American Traditional design / Stickers - Momoyo & EK Success / Sunlit Border Punch / Basic Grey die-cuts and Journalling Tag / Blings from Stash / Alpha from Stash / Versa Ink.

Unusual Friendship

May Challenge by Denise of Flying Unicorn - You've Got A Friend.
Rule: Must be friendship based. Must have the word friend or friends on it. A pic of you and your friends, child and friends, clipart..etc..are accepted..but it must be about friendship.
For this challenge, I decided to create a layout of Zahra' and her best friend Ridha Lee. They started being friends since they were around 10 years of age but their friendship only blossomed when they were in Year 5. Now they are the best of friends.
This is the reason why I called this layout "Unusual Friendsip".
"Both Ridha Lee and Zahra' started their friendship around the age of 10 on rocky grounds. They were not in the same class but they were in the same Arabic tuition class. Both were headstrong and they will scream at one another at every opportunity. Ridha was loud but Zahra' was soft. Their screaming rage actually caused their teacher running to me for help. To solve the problem, their teacher sat them at two opposite corners of the class but that was not deterrant enough. We as parents decided not to take sides and let them solve their own problems. Eventually, they got to know one another and when they moved to Year 5, their friendship blossomed and took a turn for the better. Now they are best buddies and so close that they even share secrets with one another. They really have a strong friendsip base on trust."

Supplies: Pp - Farflung, Kaiser Love Notes / Flowers - Prima, Kaiser / Title - Momoyo Alpha Stickers / Rub-ons - Kaiser and Prima Tea and Silk collection / Delfino Brads / Moof embellie / Sunlit Corner Punches / Computer print-out for Journalling.

Sweethaven Pagemap Layout - One In A Million

Here's my take on the sketch. I chose the theme of A dream come true.
To me, being a mother is a dream come true. I married late and I was't sure of my chances of being a mother. I;ve read all the high risks incurred for being pregnant the first time once you're above 35. I was above 35 and when I did become pregnant, I was close to being 40. Yes, i had my ups and downs and the final straw came when the doctor told me that the baby was no longer growing and my water bag is as dry as the Sahara. The baby is wrinkling and my pre-eclempsia was at an all time high. To save both of mother and child, a C-section had to be done immediately. Otherwise, my husband would either lost the baby, or the wife or both. We were given no option. 13 years on, my only child is growing up to be a very beautiful young girl. I love you Siti Nur Zahra' and I am grateful to Allah for giving you to me.

Supplies: Pp: Creative Memories, Tim Holtz / Flowers - Prima / Title - Paper Boutigue / Kaiser Tag / WeRMemory Keepers Embellie / Basic Grey Border Sticker. TFL.

Pick Your Bouquet - Option One: Love Cycling

I decided to take on Alda's challenge and create this double layout as I have way too many photos of Zahra' cycling on the machinised bicycle. She was having so much fun as these shots show. At the time, the father and I were riding the 'buggy' and she was trying to catch-up with us. These photos were taken at the Botany Park, Lake Gardens, Kuala Lumpur on Jan 14th, 2012 after her Cross-Country race.
I tried to add as many flowers as I could until Zahra' stopped me. She said it's too cluttered with flowers.

May 1 was a public holiday because it is Labour Day. ometime in the afternoon, the rain started to pour heavily. As I was standing outside the door, I looked at the flowing water from the roof. It was such a peaceful scene.
