U Raise Me Up

This layout was supposed to be for the 13Arts Challenge. Then again, I was distracted by other things so the last minute became no minutes at all. Still I decided to complete it even though it is not exactly how I want it to be.
When my cousin tag me this photo, I was really very, very happy. For years I have trying to get some of the old family photos from another cousin but to no avail. At least I still have this photo to work on. This is a photo of our grandma holding her only surviving son (my cousin's father). To her left is my ever beautiful mother and to her right my two aunts. Judging from the date on the photo, my mum was 12 years 9 months old. Look how pretty and ladylike she was. She still is being ever so well dressed and hair properly coiffed despite her ailing condition.
It is really so nice to have a photo of my grandma to work on. This is art of a heritage album that my daughter, Zahra' has been asking me to do. In the photos are my Grandma (Hajjah Che Noh), my mum (Sity Khatijah), My aunts (Zaleha and Hamidah - the smaller one) and my only uncle (Haji Baba @Salleh).
The title of the layout is from a song You Raise Me up. Yes, all five of them raised me up to be what I am today. I really love you all. May Allah bless you always.

Just Be Yourself

It's been months since I blogged and create layouts. This is my first layout since the retirement of my Supervisor 5 months ago. After that it was work, work and work and nothing could entice me back. I am grateful to my sister, Asmah, for never giving up on encouraging me.
This layout is for Kreative Koncepts Sketch challenge #30.
To kick start my Mojo, I decided to create this layout using this sketch. It is lovely to be back into the rhythm of scrapbooking once again.

Our Beautiful world - Signage

It's been three months since I viewed my blog and update my feed. I was totally out and my creativity was temporarily blocked. Since photography is the only way for me to be reconnected with the world, here I am. The best way to refresh is with photography.
At Beautiful World, the theme for Week 60 (wow! is that how long ago I was there?) is Signage. To all photographic enthusiasts, please visit this blog. You will not be disappointed.
On the Go is the latest eating venue by Traders Hotel. As the name suggests, we will stop by to buy our breakfast or lunch here and walk back to office or occasionally we will stop by and eat-in here. A very convenient stop center, as I will call it.
Here's my take for the Theme:

By the way, I now have Instagram. Please feel free to view my photos over there. Find me at Lili_Sulastri. Thank you in advance.

Upgrade Quality of Life Part 1

This is the first my Upgrade Quality of Life series.

For days on end my DH has been talking about upgrading the quality of life. I don't know what action he is going to take. Rather than argue or say anything, I decided to take a cold hard look at my Financial situation first. All I can say is, it sucks.
With great determination, I made a concrete decision to close all my Credit card accounts, except one because it is tied to the Insurance payment. Without any doubt, I went to the respective banks and paid up all that was due to them. I walked out a Free person and after 2 months, it feels so great not to receive calls from banks to remind me to make payments. Unfortunately, I still receive calls from unexpected bank representatives trying to sell me their ideas on the goodness of having personal loans as well as having credit cards. It's absolutely wonderful to be free of debts. Needless to say, I am going to work around my housing loans. Hmm.....
At least for now, I can smile broadly and at the same time I can buy Miss Z some pretty clothes and hopefully put aside that extra money for travelling. Shall I say, Japan, here I come!
I decided to create an art journal and this is the first in the series. I must admit, I am a hoarder. The base for this journal started it's life as a hanging office file. My college wanted to throw away the whole lot. These files are still new and I decided to recycle them. After cutting them all up to size and file then in a recycled hard cover file, I conveniently put them aside. That was three years ago. Finally, it gets to be used.

Clarence Samuel Farewell Album

I would like to say thank you to my friends who gave me the task of preparing this Album as a Memento to my retiring Supervisor, Clarence Shantakumar Samuel. We are going to miss him, that's for sure, especially his humor and his ability to be a stand-up comedian at the eleventh hour.
The theme for this layout is Facilities Management staffs. Unfortunately, I was only given a week to complete the task and budget was also very minimal. Still I try my best to create attractive layouts even though in general they are extremely Clean and Simple. During my earlier preparation, I was able to participate in challenges. As time goes by, the challenge to get the layouts done was too much for me to consider submission for challenges.  Anyway, I am happy with the result and I feel honoured that a few of my friends liked what I did. I just have to grin and bear with the remarks of one staff, who not only annoyed me but the rest of the staffs, too. I can't please one unhappy person, can I.
Here's the result of my work :

What I enjoyed during the process of creating these layouts is that I was able to use up my hoarded stuff, bits and pieces of scraps and there was minimal purchase.

Cherish The Day

I am not a stripy person. For the Southerngirlschallenge challenge 89, the criteria is to use STRIPES. The more the merrier. Good enough excuse for me to pull out those stripy papers and put them to good use. Here's the layout.

LA Lili

I created this layout using boysrulescrapbookkits March 2014 sketch. I just the the simple sketch ans since I am running out f time, this sketch fits the layout I am working on. There are two twists here - I turn the sketch around and secondly I used myself as the subject. I hope Laura will still accept this. Hee....hee....

Here's the layout - an 8x8 in layout.

I like the colour schemes here and as an additional touch, I add a Clothing tag ( a requirement).
Now what does LA stands for? It merely means Local Administrator of which I am carrying for the work I am doing.

Winner's Smile

This layout is for Scrap Africa Sketch challenge No. 28. Here's the sketch:

Stars from stash
Paper boutique Tag and Sentiment

Home-cooked Steamboat

For someone whose cooking equation goes like this:
Equation: COOKING = NOT COMPATIBLE to be able to prepare this Steamboat for the family is a major milestone and an accomplishment.
Zahra' wanted to eat Steamboat for a change. When she mentioned her desire last Sunday, we were on our way home from my in-laws. Since we've passed the junction that can take us to where we can dine this dish, her dad was already not in the mood to turn back. In order not to upset her further, I told her I'll cook the dish for her and us. She looked at me in disbelief. Inwardly, I smiled because I knew what she was thinking.
So, after her piano class this morning, we set about buying the ingredients needed to prepare this dish at Giants Supermarket, Ampang Point. I knew she is still not very certain I can prepare this dish.
In the end, I was able to cook up a storm and this is what we had for dinner.
Location : Home
Ingredients : Seafood, Vegetables
Lots of Love and Patience
I decided to cook spicy tom-yam style soup rather than the original recipe. For steamboat, the most important item is the soup. Getting the soup right will make the entire dish taste good.

PS. The culinary items are all mismatched. This is because I am on the second phase of renovation and so most of my kitchen wares are still in boxes.

TFL.
