Home-cooked Steamboat

For someone whose cooking equation goes like this:
Equation: COOKING = NOT COMPATIBLE to be able to prepare this Steamboat for the family is a major milestone and an accomplishment.
Zahra' wanted to eat Steamboat for a change. When she mentioned her desire last Sunday, we were on our way home from my in-laws. Since we've passed the junction that can take us to where we can dine this dish, her dad was already not in the mood to turn back. In order not to upset her further, I told her I'll cook the dish for her and us. She looked at me in disbelief. Inwardly, I smiled because I knew what she was thinking.
So, after her piano class this morning, we set about buying the ingredients needed to prepare this dish at Giants Supermarket, Ampang Point. I knew she is still not very certain I can prepare this dish.
In the end, I was able to cook up a storm and this is what we had for dinner.
Location : Home
Ingredients : Seafood, Vegetables
Lots of Love and Patience
I decided to cook spicy tom-yam style soup rather than the original recipe. For steamboat, the most important item is the soup. Getting the soup right will make the entire dish taste good.

PS. The culinary items are all mismatched. This is because I am on the second phase of renovation and so most of my kitchen wares are still in boxes.

TFL.
