Precious Moments

I never seem to learn! Looks like this character of mine is or was a spillover from my University days - burning the midnight oil to whiz through my exams. Litterally speaking, creating this layout was also an 11th hour submission. Only difference is I didn't burn the midnight oil; I burnt my calories with whatever food reseves I have for my stomach to survive. LOL. I used up my lunch break to stamp the stark white cardstock that I have in my bag. Searching through my Scrpabook bag of supplies I left purposely at the office, I found an unopened Versa Fine Onyx Black ink. Only, I was quick enough to pick up my Zig pens and the Micia stamp from the coffee table on my way out to the car from home.
I had that length of white space. After much debate (with myself, off course), I decided to journal and place my title there.

Sketch 2-24-10, Lets Scrap

Location: Felda Sg. Tengi, Selangor
Supplies: White Cardstock
Micia Stamp
Versa Fine Onyx Black Ink
Zig Pen (for outline and journalling
Flowers - Prima, Kaisercraft, crochet (a gift from friend)
Paper boutique Border strip
Brads - Momoyo and Delfino
Bling
Kaiser rub-ons for Title
Actually, I noticed this Challenge 158 at Lets Scrap when I wanted to see the new sketch. Looking at the clock on Let's Scrap main page, I noticed that I only have less than 24 hours to complete my layout and upload before times up. When under pressure, my mind was actively creating for me to translate into reality and with the above supplies I had, this is
the layout I created. I also used the left side of Sketch 2-24-10.
Initially, I wanted to add some colours to the background - then again, I don't have paints in my supply bag. After pasting all the elements and the photo, I changed my mind. I just love it as it it in plain B&W.
Will, I be last minute again? I dare not lie. The answer will always be a yes. Do I hope to win a RAK. Actually I do, but I don't put so much hopes into it. I feel I am a winner by participating.
I also entered this layout into Stacy's Scrap your Stash challenge where we are required to create our own pattern paper. Perfect timing!

Family Time

Every week I await with anticipation for 2 things:
1) Do I make it to the next round?
2) How will the next challenge be like.
Okay, I moved to the next round, i.e. Round 12 for colourful Creation's "So You Think You Can Scrap". With each round, the requirement become more challenging. For this round, these are what is expected from the lucky participants:

Please use the sketch below from My Scrapbook Evolution . You MUST use ALL of the following!

  1. Masking ( you can make your own or if you have one in your stash use it. There are lots of tutorials on the web for this)
  2. Textured Past: If you dont have the store bought kind you can make your own textured paste. You can find a simple tutorial here at Gabrielle's website. If you dont have baking soda you can use any type of powder (foot powder, baby powder, etc..)
  3. Some sort of inking
  4. Sketch below
  5. Stay true to sketch

Sometimes it's difficult to stay true to sketch and this in itself pose a challenge for me. Another first for me, i.e. using Texture Paste. I had this tube of Texture Paste for sometime now. So when the challenge called for Textured paste, I just had to turn the corner of my room upside down looking for the paste. Glad I found it. Here's the layout:

Location: Lake Gardens, Kuala Lumpur
Supplies: CArdstock
Kaisercraft pp (for Hearts)
Moof pp (for Heart
Momoyo Heart brads
Momoyo Glitter Alphas
Versa Inks
Reeves Texture Paste
Decorative ribbon
Sunlit Punch
Zig Pen
I did some masking at the white space because I don't quite like the look of it being too bare. Well, at least I make use of one of the requirement, i.e. masking.
My handcut brick template
I created the bricks using Powerpoint, then handcut it using craft knife

The Versa Ink was used to create the background for the photos
Textured paste was used to create those textured bricks and these
'brick wall' acts as a bridge between the two photos

Reeves Textured Pastee or Modelling paste

Korean Invaded

This layout is for Scrap Your Story- Challenge #3 where we are to use a sketch.

I decided to use these photos of my daughter during our trip back to Melaka during Chinese New Year 2013. We stopped by Port Dickson and being a teenager of the Korean K-pop era and Gangnam Style genre, she managed to sweet talk her father to befriend these group of Koreans. So, together they put up the Gangnam style pose for me to shoot. Unfortunately, they don't speak English so well and that was rather a setback.
I also decided to keep my layout simple and clean with minimal embellishments.

Location: Port Dickson Beach
Supplies : PP - Kaisercraft, from stash
Kaisercraft Tag
EK success sticker
Kaisercraft chipboard
Momoyo Alphas

Tickled

The wonderful news, my friends, I made it to round 11 of So You Think You Can Scrap challenge at Colourful Creations. As the number of participants shortened, the degree of difficulty of the challenges keep growing. I have to really step out of my comfort zone so many times for each round. This particular layout really put my thoughts to test.
As I don't have a 5R photo at hand, I decided to cut the cardstock to 8.5x7.5" and mat the photo to meet the requirement of the first photo on the left. The black quill on the top left-hand corner didn't show very well compared to the 2 white ones.

MUST USE EVERYTHING LISTED BELOW:
4 Photos (can be colored or b&w)
Black & White ONLY
Quilling
Masking
Paint
Swirls
6 Brads
Handwritten Journaling
Make your own layered 3d embellie
stay true to the sketch

Here's the layout:
Location: MAFEC
Supplies: Krozeol Placemat
B & W Cardstocks
Paint
Zig Pen for Journalling and doodling of Swirls
Sunlit and Carla Punches
Foam Alphas
Momoyo Brads
Cardstock to create quills

Krozeol Placemat as template to create the masked background
I bought this placement 6 years ago to use as a template for my background. Well, it did come to life 6 years later.

Life Is Good Be Grateful For Everything

It's been a while since I played at Let's Scrap. When I saw this sketch I told myslef I must do this layout. The first thing on my mind was the pattern paper. I had been eyeing this pp by Simple Stories of the Let's Hike series for sometime but I stopped myself from buying them. Seeing the sketch made me go all out and splurge on these two papers, eventually. At least I have a good reason to purchase them. LOL!
The hardest part was in choosing the photos. I had some other photos in mind initially. So, being queen of last minute, I changed all my initial plans and came out with these instead. The reason being the time on the Lets Scrap site showed it's almost due for submission. Also, being a simpleton, I just love the way the finished layout turn out to be.

This is the sketch to be used:

Here's the layout:

Location: Various places around Putrajaya
Supplies: Simple Stories Let's hike series
Washi Tape (currently my favourite scrapbooking item)
Bazzil Cardstock
Kaiser wooden embellie
Paper Boutique sentiment
Paper boutique Tag
Zig pen for journalling

Bring The horse In

Zahra' attended a four-day Horse Management Cousre at MAFEC from Dec 28 to Dec 31, 2012. This was her 2nd day and I had the opportunity to be present and to take some photos of the event.
On this day, Zahra' was asked to bring the horse in for the grooming session while her partner, Sophia, prepared the tools required to groom the horse. Zahra' really looked radiant and happy here. I also notice that the horse and Zahra's walk seemed to synchronize.
This layout is created for the Scrapyourstory blog challenge with the Theme: Animals.
I am also entering this layout for Cardsgalorescrapbook challenge where the colour Blue must be featured. what a coincidence. this layout has a lot of blues in it.
Location: MAFEC, Sg. Besi, Kuala Lumpur

Our Family

I have completely run out of ideas for Wedding gifts. Normally, to play safe, we always give money. Since, the bride is my 2nd cousin, I thought of giving something for a change. Then again, I don't really know Aishah very well, so I wouldn't know what she likes or don't like or want or don't want. Suddenly, I remembered the family portrait I took of her with her step-grandma (Rohana), my mum (Sity Khatijah) and her mum (Azillah). After breakfast, I quickly put together this layout as a wedding gift for her. I decided on a simple layout since I only have an hour left before leaving the house for the wedding.

Location: Bukit Serindit, Melaka
Supplies: PP - Pink Paislee Soiree, Kaisercraft
Kaisercraft Stamp
Kaisercraft Journalling Tag
Momoyo Brads
Flowers - Kaisercraft; Prima, Momoyo
Deocrative Lace
