Wrapping Up 2020 - Ironing Day 3 and Trip to Lumut

I have to try and cover as much as of the ironing today because tomorrow we going on a day trip to the North. Not sure where we will end up but Lumut is the name of the place.

December 30, 2020

Today will be the last day I am ironing the clothes and if there is a remainder these were newly brought in from the lines. No harm carrying the job forward because housework never ends. There is no closing in for housework. Then again, that's what keep us going.

Oh....there is no photos to show. I did iron a bit more and yes, I did leave two piles behind to carry over. The three piles from previous photo were down to two and the newly brought in make up the third. I knew I couldn't complete it because I am going to cook for our trip tomorrow.

December 31, 2020

I was up late, 5:32 am to be exact. Yes, that is late for me. I have half-an-hour to pack the food in individual packs so that it will be easier for us to eat later. I cooked fried spaghetti which is kind of easy and not messy. I also air-fried the curry puffs for breakfast. Managed to pack the food in time for my Subuh prayers, which was great.

As an after thought, I packed extra clothing for myself but I forgot to pack for daughter and hubby. I wish I did because we end up going to the sea.

The fried sphagetti which we end up eating
at lunch time. A very cold lunch, indeed.

I didn't time the journey from my house to Lumut. We left the house around 8:00 am and we reached Teluk Batik, Lumut around 12:51 pm. There was a delay somewhere near the West Coast Expressway. Yeah we took this new route for the first time. The delay was because there was an accident about one mile away from where we were. Heard a lorry turned on its side. Not really sure but an ambulance that drove the victim confirmed that there really was an accident. By the time we get to the scene the road was cleared. We were stuck on the road for nearly 45 minutes. Something new to my daughter. She was amazed at how patient the drivers were, no one was honking or swearing. Many came out of their cars greeting one another and, yes, I did go out to find out what happen. She was surprised the driver in front of us used the time to smoke and chit chat with other motorists. Actually this is normal situation for me but new to her.

The mile long jam, maybe that stuck us all for
nearly 45 minutes

The accident did take away our precious time actually. Otherwise we could have arrived earlier and have a better spot at the beach.

When we reached our destination I could sense my daughter's disappointment. She wanted badly to swim in the sea but I told her she could wear my extra clothes that I brought. Glad I packed her undies. So it she was all smiles after that.

Only my husband and daughter went into the sea. I chose not to because I don't have have extra clothes. I know I can buy from the Souveinor shop but they prefer cash and I didn't bring much cash with me. That is ok. Let hubby and daughter enjoy themselves in the sea water.

We left Teluk Batik to go to the Jetty to Pulau Pangkor to buy dried Anchovies. We end up buying more than just anchovies.

We couldn't find a decent place for dinner but we end up having dinner around 11:00 pm along the old route on the way home. We finally reach home around 1:10 am.

That is my year-end roundup for year 2020. A couple of things I must remember to be more prepared when we go on daytrips. Always pack extra clothings for the three of us irregardless. Purchase proper mat for beach use.

This is all for today. Wishing everyone Happy 2021. Stay safe.

Wrapping Up 2020 - Ironing Day 2

So far so good. I am able to maintain what I had set out to do. As always I was sidetracked.

It was raining fairly heavily this morning. I decided to take the opportunity to deep clean the balcony, not all of it, only a section of it. I really scrubbed the molds of the walls and floor in the rain. I did stop before the rain did and went to take a shower. By the time I am done, the rain had stopped and this is the result of my work. Not 100% cleaned and I know I need to do another round of scrubbing. Maybe at the start of 2021, I shall start to paint the wall. Give the balcony a new look.

Scrubbed floor and wall in the rain.

This area will be next. Probably in 2021

These need to be reorganized. I had replanted the
Snake plants and one pot is for my sister

After the shower I started to do my second round of ironing. Growing up with my parents, I noticed how mum will painstakingly ironed Dad's Naval uniform. Everything has to be crisp and there should always be one line at the sides of the pants and sleeves. At the time the Royal Malaysian Navy was under British command. Inspection of Uniform and shoes was forever in order. Shoes has to be very well shined that you can see your reflection. I remember how mum would starch Dad's uniform so that she could give them a good ironing. Then materials for uniforms changed. Starching was no longer required and ironing became a little easier.

Yes, we have come a long way from that time. Materials had evolved many times over and now there is not much ironing or no ironing is required. Unless one is in the Force. Being a first born, I was trained to iron clothes the way the Uniforms were ironed and I have not really grown out of it. Everything has to be sharp and crisp. But once worn, the crispness really flew out of the window.

What is left after Day 2. Feeling satisfied. Mission almost
accomplished.

Wrapping Up 2020 - Ironing Day 1

I had been so busy with decluttering and crochet I neglected ironing the clothes. The pile has grown up tremendously that I only iron what was required. Definitely this is not good enough. I am going to spend to day until December 31, 2020 attending to clothes only. I hope I shall 'unearth' more clothes to be donated or to be trashed. In syaa Allah.

Waiting to be folded

Done ironed.

I know most people do not iron their T-shirts, I do. I just like to wear T-shirts that are ironed even in the house because it does look neater. All the folded and ironed items will be arranged in their respective places.

Tomorrow I shall continue ironing and hope to reduce the pile to zero. Thank you for stopping by.

30 Bags in 30 Days - Bags 28, 29 and 30 Trash and Recycleable

Welcome to my blog and my update on decluttering. After my therapy, I really decided to take a good break from major cleaning, decluttering and organizing. Instead, I spent more and more time on my crochet as I really need to rejuvenate my mind. This decluttering task is really taking its toll on me, actually.

Today I decided to pick up where I had left off and I decided to complete all three bags while I am in the mood. Gladly, I managed to gather more items to trash. Surprisingly, I also find more items to shred that can actually be sold to the junkyard.  My next step will be to reorganize so that I can see how much reduction had actually taken place. As is, I am not seeing any reduction at all. It looks like I have not done anything at all.

I am hoping that after I am done I will not stop reducing my stuffs. My goal is to merely simplify my life a bit more and focus on what I really love doing - crafts and crochet.

While clearing stuffs, in between I did a reduction of my potted plants, too. I had way too many snake plants, ten pots altogether, and this one I had to let go because they are yellowing badly.

Saved that to replant.

Guess this is all for today. Tomorrow  shall start on another project. The theme is reduction, too, but of a different kind.

Till then. Good night. Stay safe everyone.

Therapy Day

Hello. Yesterday was my therapy day at Ampang Hospital. Then followed with Facial at Esthetika. And lastly to the Post Office. A much needed break especially for facial. My face has really dulled very much and I really need to give it the care it really deserves.

At the hospital we were taught a few exercises to strenghten our knee and ankle. Then we were given a QR code for us to scan and download the exercise for us to do at home on a daily basis. No skipping, not even for a day. For the therapy today was my last day. I just need to discipline myself to do it everyday without fail.

I managed to bring three old magazines to donate to the coffee table of the waiting area of the therapy section. Feel good to be able to share the mag I love to others. The mags may be old but the contents are evergreen. My initial plan was to gather all these magazines and sell them to the junkyard. It was during my previous visit I had the idea of donating them to the Hospital. The magazines they had on the coffee table were equally old and some pages torn. I may drop some more during my next visit.

Crocheted mask connectors that were ordered by a friend. Had
them packed and posted

When I posted the photo of the mask connectors at FB, one follower asked what these were for. So I decided to take a photo of myself using the mask connector to answer her question. Since I wear the hijab, it is much more convenient to wear a connector.

30 Bags in 30 Days - Bag 27 Trash

Weekends is not really a good time for me to do decluttering. I am always sidetracked by other things to do like Grocery shopping or the likes. It is also a family time so no extra-curricular chores.

After being couped up in the house I decided to go to Mytown with hubby and daughter on Saturday, to visit my favourite stores - Daiso and Spotlight. My intention was to buy yarns but I did end up buying Scrapbooking papers, too. That means my resolution not to buy more papers was not strong enough. I just melted. After that, we had lunch at Ikea but I did not take any photos. I guess I must have taken way too many photos before I just forgo taking photos. Well, a grave mistake indeed.

I am happy to say that the bags to the junkyard did find their way there on Saturday, at last. We stopped by the yard first before making our way to Mytown. It was really good to see them gone and out of the house. Made the house look a bit more spacious.

Somehow I did manage to find some time at the end of Sunday to clear some corners of the upstairs room and filled up Bag 27. Oopsie... I have got my calculation wrong. This is to be bag 27 and not 28. Really good to go. I really am excited to complete this challenge as I have another project up my sleeve.

So here is bag 27 filled with trash. I told my sister about my progress and she was astounded at the amount of things I have in the house. I really thought I had cleared a lot or so I thought. Hmm...I really wonder! I shall be reorganizing after bag 30 and I shall see how much has actually decreased.

Bag 27

I did make progress with my crochet. This is a commissioned work and I really must be doing it diligently.

The end product will be a bedspread for my
sister.

For lunch my daughter prepared Eggplant and soy sauce side dish. A Korean dish.

Thank you for stopping by. Take care. I happened to stay up and finally get my hands on the PC.

30 Bags in 30 Days - Bag 26 Trash

I am getting excited. Another three bags to go and I would have completed this challenge. It is not as easy I thought as it would have been. Guess it will make a difference if I had just closed my eyes and trashed everything away. Only the sentimental side of me held me back. Still I had accomplished quite a lot and that is all that matters. Even though I have something going once this challenge is over, I shall wait.

Prior to this I had filled up a bag with plastics. Suffice to say those plastics were saved for various reasons. I decided to let them ago and I have space for other items. Today I filled up another bag with plastics but this will not be accounted for. Come to show how much plastics we all use in our daily lives now. Again this plastics will not fill the landfill but will be sold to the junkyard. By doing so, I hope to lessen the landfill with plastics. Just a small contribution to saving the environment.

Plastics

I have also started saving some of the bottles to create Eco-bricks. To fill the bottles I use wrappers that came with the 3in1 packs which I either buy or receive from family members. I am still halfway through my project and I am excited to see my creation takes shape. These bottles are not fully 'concrete' yet.

Eco-bricks. Project in progress

Bag 27

Getting close to the finishing line. Will sign out now and see you all again with Bag 28. Until then take care. Thank you for stopping by.

30 Bags in 30 Days - Bags 24 and 25 Another Trash & Recycleable

It is getting harder and harder to find more trash because the items unearthed are either good to donate or to be recycled or to sell. Or is it just me who finds it more difficult to part with my 'treasures'. I just have to get out of my nostalgic mode more. I must remember I am not leaving behind 'treasures' that may not be appreciated by my daughter or husband. Well, I shall be back.

I did pull out a box file and voila, I end up getting another bag. I find that I have way too much chipboards I decided to let these go.

End of project for the day. I am going to take the trash out and call it a day.

Thank you for stopping by. Just a short post today.
