Miss Photogenic

I love this photo of my niece, Anis (Photo courtesy of Asmah). I decided to use this photo to create this layout for Colourful Creations SYTYCS08 challenge. Following are the rules:

You DO have to make your own pattern paper.NO PAPER PIECING to make your paper! You can use cardstock as your base for your paper, matting, borders, etc…. NO STORE BOUGHT PATTERN PAPERS!!!

In addition to your made pattern papers you MUST use ALL of the following:

Journaling card
Punch
Metal (any type of metal)
Mixed alphas

I decided to stamp the cardstock to create the pattern. I must confess, I have not removed the plastic wrapping off these stamps that I used. I guess this is as good a time to really use up my stash.

Jo & Kel

Both Joanne and Kelly are best friends and came to Malaysia in 2010 because Kelly had a dental appointment. Both hailed from Casino, Australia. This photo was taken at the National Mosque during one of the KL Tour we had and we took the Hop-on-Hop-Off bus. Kelly is my main supplier of Kaisercraft products and one of my favourite Scrapper.Kel's work has been recently published in Australian Scrapbook Ideas and feel free to visit her blog http://www.amothersart.com/ to view her gorgeous work.
This layout is for Colourful Creations "So You Think You Can Scrap" Round 7. The rules is getting tougher but I am enjoying the challenges and looking forward to Friday to see what's coming.
Here's the T&C for SYTYCS07 using the sketch provided.

Use the sketch below to create a layout. You MUST stay true to the sketch. You MUST use ALL of the following items on your pages:
Hand Stitching
Misting
Fussy cutting (List in the gallery what items you fussy cut)
Use these colors ONLY red, yellow, blue, & green, you are not required to use all of the colors.

Here's my take for the challenge:
Location: National Mosque, Kuala Lumpur
Supplies: Bazzil Cardstock; Coredinations Cardstock
Kaiser craft pp
Moof pp for Flowers
Decorative ribbon
Decorative lace
DMC Floss
Pink Paislee Alphas
Acrylic paint for Misting
This is my first attempt at misting and my initial thought was to purchase the Tattered Angel Mist. After much deliberation, I decided to use my acrylic paints instead. I mixed Deep Green and Yellow Ochre and use the Spray bottle to spritz. I used remnants of my Moof paper which had the flowers on it and I fussy cut the flowers. As for the photos, there was a lot of white space and I decided to fussy cut it to minimize the white space.
A great challenge because it really drove me to use misting, finally.

You & Me Together

I honestly love this challenge by DT Andrea Eason of colourful Creations. Her request is very simple - use your stash and create a layout using any seasonal papers a non-traditional way. One of my friends sold me this Webster's Pack 3 years ago and this pack is very, very Christmassy. Somehow, I like the design and I know I can use them in ways that are not Christmas-related. Well, like all my other purchases, this pack went right under my collectibles until I did a spring cleaning of my stash in December 2012. I stll can't figure out what to do with them and I just don't have the heart to literally butcher them. Websters papers are always beautiful. Absolutely love them. So this challenge provided me with the excuse to use this paper eventually. On top of that, I get to use most of my Kaiser flowers which I have in abundance. The numbers have not dwindled as much as I'd like it to be; at least there is movement in reduction.
Here's the challenge (February Use Your Stash-A Bouquet of Flowers):
For this challenge, you must use from your stash:
14 flowers
1 photo
4 papers
And the rules:
Your project must be newly created as of February 4th, 2013
It may not be combined with any other Colorful Creations challenges.
Isn't that lovely?

Here's the layout:
Location: Singapore Zoo
Supplies: Webster's Pages; Kaisercraft; K&Company; unknown from stash
Flowers : Kaisecraft; Prima and unknown (a gift)
Brads : Momoyo and Delfino
Kaisercraft rub-on
Title : Unknown (a gift)

ME

This layout is for SYTYCS05 at Colourful Creations. We were to use the sketch provided (see Street Artist) which is a PgeMap sketch. The twist to creating this layout are:
1) distressing - used scissors
2) a recylced item - Prima paper backing
3) tearing
I met all the criteria for this challenge.
I didn't work on this challenge immediately because it's a repeat sketch for me and I don't quite like doing the same thing twice. Anyway, this time I tried to follow the sketch to a tee; off course, with not much success.I decided to scrap myself for a change and I chose 2 of the photos (shot by my hubby) of myself and one of the mosque which was the backdrop. I did a lot of cropping here and I am beginning to like the process.
Here's the layout:
Location: Sultan Abu Bakar Mosque, Johor Bharu
Supplies: Nikki Sivils; K&Company, Paper boutique
Embellies - Momoyo, Paper Boutque, from stash

A Day At Lake Gardens

I have not created any pages for Lets Scrap in a while. Using the sketch below, I selected a couple of photos taken at Lake Gardens last year to represent the times spent there. I did a lot of tight cropping for some photos and I do feel good to be able to use photos that would otherwise remain in albums and not be seen forever.

The Train Ride

When we went to Singapore for a day trip by train in August 2010, little did we know this was going to be our first and Swan song ride to Tanjung Pagar. The following year, the Malaysian Prime Minister surrendered Tanjung Pagar to the President of Singapore behind a closed door meeting. No one knows what actually transpired but what we do know is that another Malaysian Heritage is lost to Singapore, yet again. I wish I had taken a lot of photos around Tanjung Pagar as a final remembrance.
This layout is created for the Colourful Creations GDT challenge following this sketch:

Location: Train heading to Singapore
Supplies: Kaisercraft The 13Hr Collection; Love Notes Collection, Utopia Collection
Paper Boutique
Bo Bunny Sticker
Coredination Cardstock

The Joys of Motherhood

Another layout for Colourful Creations. This time it's for DT Roulien Stanhnke's Challenge - Counting Blessings. This is her challenge:
February is the month of love!! Scrap about someone or something you love having in your life!

Requirements for this challenge:
1. Use a minimum of 2 photos on your page;
2. Use at least 3 hearts . . . they can be punched, brads, misted, cut from paper . . . anything as long as I can count at least 3;
3. Handwritten journaling;
4. 4 or more brads

I decided to use photos of my mum and my daughter for this layout. The reason is very simple. Both of them had taught me the full meaning of Motherhood. Mum showed me by example; though, I admit half of my life I don't really understand her role fully. All I know is she is there to care for my needs, prepare food for us to eat, buy things we or the family need. She was there when I came from school; she was there when I need someone to talk to (not all the time I can confide in her, though); she was there to reprimand me or to groom me. She was just a responsible mother who sets those examples for me and my sisters to follow. It wasn't until I become a mother, I realise her full responsibility. She took care of me and my baby during confinement. She taught me how to bring up my baby and till today she never cease to remind me how to care for my daughter. She is still always there when I need her and it is always soothing to hear her voice.
As for my daughter, she is a beautiful girl growing up. I still miss the first year of her life where the baby sitter enjoyed her first words, her first food, her first steps and her first milk tooth. In the long run, she taught me the meaning of patience, the meaning of controlling my anger, the meaning of mother-daughter friendship and the meaning of caring. Both of them taught me great lessons in life and they are my Blessings.
This is the layout to show how much they mean to me and how grateful I am for having them.

Supplies: Kaisercraft Love Notes Collection

Flowers - Momoyo, Petaloo
