30 Bags in 30 Days - Bags 15 and 16 Recycleable

I am delayed with my post because I did not have access to the computer. On the other hand, I am glad I did not post Day 15 because I realise I have to have a bigger trash bag to fill the shredded documents.

I had been filling Bag 15 with shredded documents that were P&C. Half-way through, I came across a file full of P&C Documents that I prefer to shred than sell as is to the recycling center. The normal grocery bag is not big enough to accomodate all the shredded documents so I decided to use a bigger bag for the purpose.

Another item that was P&C was my 1992 Diary. I went through every page to read my entries. Mostly work-related that I had to keep track for Weekly Reporting purpose. Then when I came to October 22, I read a sad entry. I wrote " My sister, Asmah, called to inform me of Grandpa's passing". For a moment I kept my silence because the feeling of missing grandpa came over me. He was my mentor and my guardian when I stayed with my grandparents from when I was seven to 11 years of age. Well, at least I have a date to remember me by.

I plan to sell the shredded items to the recycling centre maybe tomorrow. At the very least I can get the bags out of the way once and for all.

Now this XL trash bag will be my Day 15 Bag.

Thank you for stopping by. Take care and stay safe.

30 Bags in 30 Days - Bag 14 Recycleables

Today is Maulud Nabi where we remembered the birth of Prophet Muhammad.

Daughter and I continued with our purging. But I decided to clean the ceiling fan in the kitchen. It was so grimy and not functioning very well.

After being cleaned. Looks better and performed

Finally I was able to fill up the box with items that I can sell to the junkyard. Daughter helped to fill up the box with books that she no longer need.

30 Bags in 30 Days - Bag 13 Trash from Hidden Places

 Good evening.

I am happy as everyday I am progressing with my challenge. Even though I did skip some days I still managed to gather items that I no longer need.

After hanging out the clothes to dry, I noticed a box cover full of items I really can't remember existed. It has been sitting on top of my boxes of collectibles (or maybe junks) collecting dust. Together with my daughter we went through the items and I ended up trashing away most of them. A handful were kept to be returned to where it belonged or to be relocated. I am delighted to find my sewing needles that I had kept in a glass vial and this will be relocated to the sewing box. Daughter was happy, too, to find her lost treasures.

30 Bags in 30 Days - Bag 12 + Bag 11 Continuation

I managed to fill up the bag from yesterday and together with my daughter we filled up Bag 12 today. My daughter was revamping her room and we manged to declutter some items. We plan to finish off the remaining job in her room tomorrow and hope to declutter more. While she is working on her room I am planning to work on the area next to the toilet.

My post is going to be short today as moving things around is really a lot of work in itself. So here's my 11th and 12th bags that will go straight to the trash bin. I need to fill up the bags to maximum capacity because now we have to pay for every grocery bag provided to us. Each costs us RM0.20 cents each. The idea is to make Malaysians aware about environmental issues caused by plastic bags. I do bring my own bags whenever I go shopping. Occassionally, I might forget. I am simply using whatever I have around the house and hopefully this will also contribute to decluttering of plastic bags I have in my storage area.

The smaller bag is what we did today.

Looking at the things I had been throwing makes me wonder why I held on to some of them in the first place. Letting them go is the best thing I had done, finally.

My next project is to tackle my snail mails that I had been keeping since I was 16 years and stopped writing in 1989. It is no longer a necessity for me to keep them now that I have rarely, if at all, indulge in snail mails.

Thank you for stopping by. If anyone of you are involved in doing small buckets of trashing on a daily basis, keep it up. Please remember, do not mix the routine trash, especially from the kitchen, with the trash meant for purging or decluttering.

30 Bags in 30 Days - Day 11 Trash and Recycleables

Good evening. I am lagging a bit today. I was a quarter-way through with my plastic bag when Hubby said the air-con repair man is coming around noon. Daughter and I did the obvious. Clear as much clutter as we possibly could and, at a hunch I decided to clear my potted plants at the balcony, to make way for him in case he also needed to work on the air-con fan outside ( I am not sure the right term for this).

Hubby was deep-cleaning the porch and since this guy wanted to park his car there (he had so many tools he needed for the job), hubby had to make a quick clearing of the area. Daughter took over deep-cleaning the grout outside the gate and I helped her, too. She took this opportunity to deep-clean while we are having hot weather the past few days. We were only given 15 minutes by hubby because the machine was getting hot.

This is the area outside the gate that was
dirty due to the rainy season some days back.
Notice the difference in the foreground and
the back? Will try to finish off the deep-clean
another day.

I did a bit of purging of the pocket files I had in quite a while. I also cleared a bit more stuffs that I find along the way. Not sure how much I can cover today, though.

These blue pocket files are empty and since I
am not using them, I might as well trash
them.

Before trashing them, I cut out the plastic cover to take the
chipboard backing which I can sell as recycleables

I also managed to purge the contents of two other files and merged with a third file. That means I am less by 6 files. Not much by any standards but I am happy because I have some space created.

Will continue in a bit. I am getting dinner on the table now. Dinner is very simple. Just plain fried rice as I was far to tired to cook.

Result of today's garbage collection.

Couldn't get around to filling up the bag in time
for tomorrow's Trash pick-up day. I don't want to
waste plastic bag so I shall fill it up tomorrow.

Thank you very much for stopping by. I hope my challenge will inspire you to do the same. Cleaning is a daily process for some.

30 Bags in 30 Days - Bag 10 More Trash

As planned, today I had the clothes sent to the Collecting Centre at Dewan Orang Ramai, Taman Bukit Indah, Fasa 1. The clothes will now embark on a new journey and to new owners or be upcyled into something useful. I don't know. From the lady in charge, she told me the clothes will be donated to the poor and the needy and the rest will be sent to be upcycled.

This is the third time I donated clothes. Somehow, this time around I truly felt sad and hollow about departing with the clothes. I really wonder why. I just hope the new owners will find joy wearing them as much as I had before.

Since I had created some void in the wardrobe, I shall spend some time reorganizing my wardrobe. That will be the next step after purging.

The collection Centre

I did another walkabout around the house and I am happy to discover more trash. I have yet to be more organized in my planning now. I am going to focus more on area by area after this. At least, I am making progress in my purging and declutering exercise.

30 Bags in 30 Days - Bag 9 Clothes for Donation

 Good evening friends.

Today I start a bit late with my self-proclaimed challenge. I had a much-delayed errand to do and I really feel good having accomplished it. Finally.

Today I did my last leg of purging clothes for donation. This is my fourth bag and I really am happy to give them away for a good cause. At the same time I do feel a bit sad to part with them. Then again, no point keeping them anymore.

The fourth bag and the last one

Four bags altogether.

In syaa Allah, on Saturday these four bags will embark on its journey to a new destination.

Just a short post today. Thank you for stopping by.

Taking a Break

I did not do any purging today because I need to be in silent mode. The Child is having her last final exam to day and it was Statistics. She decided to use the Living room instead. She also wanted me to sit beside her for moral support.

Does that mean I never do anything at all. No. I did something where I do not have to make any noise at all. I crochet. I am crocheting these mask extensions for an order I received. So happy that I have something to do during the CMCO. While the going is good I am going to the shop to buy yarn. Or maybe I will order online as it is much of a hassle to go to the mall. With 107 cases in Selangor today, I am thinking three times about going out. Yeah, I'll get the Child to help me order online.

The completed Mask extensions

Work in progress

I shall continue crocheting them tomorrow as I am receiving a new order. May put the bag on-hold again.

Thank you for stopping by. Please pary my daughter success in her final exam Thank you.

30 Bags in 30 Days - Bag 8 Recycleable Trash

 Happy Sunday everyone.

Today I am very happy because I did a Zoom Meet with my Ex-fifth collegian friends. There was a lot to catch up and talk about. There were six of us online today. The exception are Patrina who is in Melbourne and Aini in Austin.

Clockwise: Myself, my former roommate, Patrina, Kim,
Aini, Jarina and Sharon Ng

Since I wish not to be disturbed during the meet, I cooked early. These became the dish for both Breakfast and lunch. I wanted to eat the Lebanese bread dipped in the famous Asam Pedas. One main reason for being early in the kitchen.

The prepared dish

Asam Pedas Pomfret

Arabic Salad prepared the night before

Lebanese bread

Egg Sambal for the Child and myself
since we both don't eat pomfret

I washed my breakfast with dark coffee

The Hubby enjoying his breakfast

After our Zohor prayers I wanted to do some grocery shopping. I need to buy raw food that was not available at Berkat Medinah. Before going to the supermarket, I decided to sell these plastics. By doing so, I am able to clear the porch of collectibles for sale.

There were three bags but two were given to me by my sister-in-law who helped gather plastics for me to sell. The one I gathered was in the transparent bag. These were either from the car, the kitchen or the bathroom. To earn money is one thing but the main issue here is I am able to help save the environment. I hope.

Plastics for the junkyard

I had the black bag from the Day 7 moved
here for collection on Monday. These were not
collected by the regular Garbage truck. Another
truck will collect them instead. This truck is on
Mondays and Fridays only.

The plastics I gathered making this the 9th bag.

Kind of exciting to see more and more things going out of the house. I hope by the 30th day I would have purged more items giving me more space and simplicity.

Well, thank you for stopping by. Tomorrow I am going to gather more clothes for donation.

30 Bags in 30 Days - Bag 7 Trash from the Backyard

It is Saturday today and my plan for the day is to go to the bank, grocery shopping and pruning the backyard. I really need to stock up as my supplies are quickly dwindling. BTW, the drop-off centre will be open from Oct 20 to Oct 30th. I had gotten my dates wrong. It means I have ample time to go trhough my wardrobe and likewise the Child is doing the same. Hopefully this will one big purging where I do not have to think again for the next couple of months.

I really want to give my backyard a facelift. All I need to do was prune the dried and yellowing banana leaves. I know I will not do much because I need to run errands first. I'll just do as much as I can for the time I had.

This is how the banana trees look like. A really
pathetic state.

My mixture of plants - still need to be
reorganized

A bag of dead leaves. Will send to the field
in front of the house for collection on Monday

How the bananas look after. Still need to do bit
more clean-up. Will wait when the sun is not
too bright

That is all about I could cover in less than an hour. The sun was still so bright and this could be the beginning of bright sunny days ahead. It really is so nice to work outdoors ever once in a while.

I went grocery shopping, but not 100%. There are still items to purchase. After completing our shopping at Berkat Medina Store, we decided to return home. This is one of our favourite haunt whenever we want authentic arabic flavours. It was already 1:06 pm by then.

Outside the store

Inside the store. Mostly products from Turkey,
Algeria or other Arab countries.

Chicken Pizza - lunch for me and the Child

Some of the items I bought. I wanted to try cook the Mandy
Rice one of these days. I always love dried figs and
the herbal bread is another of my favourite.

Thank you for stopping by.
